One of the most impressive alpine meadows located in Uttarakhand, the Bedni Bugyal ranges are the most impressive part of the Himalayan valleys. These are the twin ranges of the meadows of Ali and Bedni that simply lie on the famous routes of the Roopkund Trek. And the famous Bedni Bugyal trekking is all for exploring the deep virgin forests, gurgling brooks, breath-taking campsites, miles of undulating meadows and Mt Trishul and Mt Nanda Ghunti towering over them.
Bedini Bugyal falls on the way to Roopkund near Wan village. Trisul and Nanda Ghunti are clearly visible from here. This lush green meadow is adorned with blooms in a wide range of varieties. There is a small lake named Vaitarani (Bedini Kund), situated amidst the meadow. The rich flora of the area includes 'Brahm Kamal' or Sauseurea Obyallata.
Ali Bugyal is a very large alpine meadow which has expanse of grass land that covers several hundred acres of land, towards the sides of a wide ridge; Bedni Bugyal lies beyond this ridge. The meadows have vegetation of anemones, potentilla, lousewart, wild salvia and thistles. Grazing by cattle and sheep is extensive. There are many trails that pass through the meadows.
